Today, 20 May, the official opening ceremony of two new apartment rental buildings at 122 Saules Street took place in Ventspils. The buildings were commissioned by the Ventspils municipality and developed using financing from the low-rent housing construction programme. The completion of the project marks an important milestone in the development of Ventspils’ residential housing stock, bringing 60 new, modern and energy-efficient rental apartments to the city.
The project is particularly significant as these are the first entirely newly built apartment buildings in Ventspils since the restoration of Latvia’s independence. The apartments feature open-plan layouts and fully completed interior finishes. Each stairwell is equipped with a lift, while the landscaped surroundings include a children’s playground, paved parking spaces, bicycle storage areas and underground waste-sorting containers. The territory is fenced, ensuring residents’ privacy and security. Keys have already been handed over to residents of 92% of the apartments, and tenants will begin moving into their new homes in early June.
Both five-storey buildings were designed and constructed by Pillar Contractor. “This was the largest project implemented by Pillar Contractor in Kurzeme, which makes it especially rewarding that it is also of such importance to the city of Ventspils and its residents. During the implementation of the project, we gained valuable experience working together with the municipality and its institutions, as well as with companies from the region. We would like to thank all our partners for their contribution to the project and wish the residents of the Saules Street buildings many happy years in their new homes,” emphasised Jānis Lāčaunieks, Chairman of the Management Board of Pillar Contractor.
The project “Construction of Rental Housing at 122 Saules Street, Ventspils” was implemented with the support of the development finance institution ALTUM using a loan from the European Union Recovery Fund programme.
The project was commissioned by the municipal company Ventspils nekustamie īpašumi. The building design and construction works were carried out by Pillar Contractor, while construction supervision was provided by Būves birojs.
